Entry Requirements

Prerequisites & Entry Requirements

Recommended Prior Knowledge

A foundational understanding of small UAS (sUAS) operations is strongly recommended. Completion of SUAS214 or an equivalent course provides the ideal grounding before undertaking this programme.

Basic security or operational safety training is preferred to ensure participants can contextualise response protocols effectively.

No Counter-UAS Experience Needed

This is an awareness-level course. No prior counter-UAS training or technical drone expertise is required — making it accessible to a broad range of security and safety professionals entering the field.

Learning Outcomes

Course Objectives & Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, participants will possess the knowledge and practical awareness to contribute meaningfully to counter-UAS operations within their organisation's security framework.

1

Identify & Differentiate UAV Activity

Recognise unauthorized or hostile drones and distinguish between recreational, commercial, and malicious UAV operations

2

Explain Airspace Vulnerabilities

Articulate security gaps in both controlled and uncontrolled airspace environments affecting critical infrastructure

3

Assess Drone Incursion Risk

Evaluate threat levels posed by drone activity proximate to protected sites and infrastructure assets

4

Apply Response Protocols

Execute basic counter-UAS response procedures and support coordinated action with aviation and security authorities

5

Interpret Security Alerts

Analyse airspace security alerts and intelligence reports to inform timely, proportionate operational responses

6

Navigate Legal Frameworks

Demonstrate awareness of regulatory and legal airspace security obligations governing counter-UAS operations
